Holy Name, Leeds celebrating diamond years of service

On Friday, June 7th a Mass of Thanksgiving was offered - with participation by an impressive number of priests who had previously served the community down those years from the very beginning until the present day, together with two ‘sons of the parish' : Fr Michael Kelly and Canon Laurie Hulme. Fr Tony Pearson had been longest in post as parish priest and with him were his successors Fr Barrie Cummins, Mgr Peter McGuire, and Fr Pat Smythe, the present incumbent. They were accompanied by Mgr Billy Steele and Fr Michael O'Reilly who had resided and assisted at Holy Name while teaching at St Thomas Aquinas High School, and by Frs Shaun Smith, Benjamin Griffiths, Michael McCreadie, and Boniface Akpoigbe MSP - former and current Assistant Priests. Also assisting at the altar was Rev Sean Quigley, a parishioner recently ordained to the Diaconal Ministry. Share on Facebook
