‘Spoken': Youth 2000 Leeds Retreat

Over 150 young people, along with several priests and religious of the diocese, gathered at Notre Dame College for a weekend retreat run by the Leeds Diocesan Youth Service and Youth 2000 last weekend. The theme of the retreat was "listening to the Shepherd's Voice" (John 10:4). We ‘listened' through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Mass, rosary, opportunity for Confession, Eucharistic Healing service, sung praise and worship, talks, workshops, small groups, friendship, fun and fellowship.

Bishop Marcus Stock joined us on Sunday for the closing Mass and in his homily told us that "Nothing in the Church makes sense if we don't know and hear the voice of Jesus". He encouraged us to go out and proclaim Christ to the people around us through the way we live our lives, since "our lives may be the only pages of the Gospel that the people around us ever read." Challenged, encouraged, strengthened and inspired by the Church over these three days, many young people will be returning to their homes, parishes, workplaces and universities more able to ‘follow the Good Shepherd'.
